However, today we’re talking about the other Fitzpatrick. His name is Alex, and he will be teeing it up at the ACCIONA Open presented by Madrid. The younger of the Fitzpatrick brothers is widely lauded to have a great future, perhaps even matching the achievements of Matt. Can he do it? Only time will tell, but there is no doubt that he has the game for it.
The Englishman will be making his bow in Madrid in one of the biggest matches of the day. His Open de España will begin on Thursday alongside Nacho Elvira, and German player Marcel Siem, who won in India this year. This could be a group to follow around Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
Alex started this season playing on the Challenge Tour, where he was shooting the lights out. One of his best outings came at the British Challenge, which he won by a margin of five shots. However, Alex Fitzpatrick’s great season did not stop there. Thanks to his results on the second-tier tour, he has now started playing DP World Tour events and is already making moves up the European ranking.
The highlight of the Briton’s season came in July. Having come through some stringent qualifiers, he earned himself a place in the year’s final major, The Open, which was staged at Royal Liverpool. Not happy just to be playing there, he finished inside the top 20.

An outstanding achievement. Alex is coming to Madrid intent on proving that it is not only his brother who can put the name Fitzpatrick up in lights.
