Jon Rahm, Spanish golf’s iconic flag bearer, who currently occupies number 14 in the World Ranking, has signed up to play the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid, which takes place at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from 26 to 29 September.
A three-time winner of the event (2018, 2019 and 2022), Jon Rahm is now vying to surpass Seve Ballesteros in the Spanish Open’s winner’s circle and draw to within one of Angel de la Torre, whose record five titles in his national open came in the early years of the twentieth century, between 1916 and 1925.
On top of a hugely impressive title haul, which he began to build no sooner had he turned professional, the highlights of which are the 2021 US Open and the 2023 US Masters, as well as his victorious Ryder Cup appearances, Jon Rahm has always stood out for his charisma and determination, both inside the ropes and out. Entertainment is guaranteed with the Spaniard.
Rahm, who had a chance of winning gold until the last few holes at the recent Paris Olympics, has enjoyed an intense relationship with the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid, where he has set some astonishing records.
Among them is his performance in 2022, when he claimed the title with the lowest result in the history of the tournament: 259 shots (- 25), the all-time record for the Open de España.
Once again this year, Rahm’s presence will provide a huge attraction for fans, who will have another chance to marvel at the Basque golfer as he plots his way around Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, which has welcomed huge crowds in recent seasons.
Tickets for the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid are now available.
