Sergio Garcia adds his name to a spectacular Open de España presented by Madrid

Sergio Garcia has confirmed he will be contributing to the spectacle at the Open de España presented by Madrid, which takes place at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid for the sixth consecutive year, from 9 to 12 October.

The addition of the Castellon native, one of the best players in the game for over two decades, means the tournament can boast one of the greatest exponents of golf in Spain, Europe and the world. He will share the limelight in the Spanish capital with Jon Rahm to make the competition a truly unmissable stop on the DP World Tour calendar.

Sergio Garcia, the Open de España champion in 2002, is currently one of the top players in LIV Golf, the Saudi circuit where he plies his trade alongside Jon Rahm and where he has notched up two wins: LIV Golf Andalucía 2024 and LIV Golf Hong Kong 2025.

Such was Garcia’s consistency in his pomp that he spent 400 weeks in the Top 10 of the World Ranking, his defining moment coming at the US Masters in 2017, when he became the third Spaniard to don the famous green jacket after Severiano Ballesteros (1980 and 1983) and Jose Maria Olazabal (1994).

Sergio Garcia, who has a stunning 38 professional victories under his belt, as well as being a member of nine Ryder Cup teams, last played the Open de España in 2019, also at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, where he finished seventh in the year when Jon Rahm claimed his second consecutive crown in their home Open.

Now, as he returns to the Open de España, Garcia will be vying for his second title at one of the most prestigious events on the DP World Tour, whose winners’ circle includes the likes of Arnold Palmer, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo, Severiano Ballesteros, Jon Rahm and the man from Castellon himself.
