Jon Rahm, a sporting icon and the poster boy of Spanish golf, will once again compete in the Open de España presented by Madrid, which takes place at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from 9 to 12 October.
The Basque golfer will fulfil his commitment to play in Spain’s biggest professional golf tournament, an event with an illustrious history and one of the oldest on the European continent.
Jon Rahm has confirmed his presence at a competition where his superlative game has earned him an historic record. A three-time winner of the Open de España (2018, 2019 and 2022), Jon Rahm is bidding to surpass Severiano Ballesteros with a fourth victory and draw nearer to the record of Angel de la Torre, who won five titles in his national open early in the 2oth century, between 1916 and 1925.
Jon Rahm’s special relationship with the Open de España presented by Madrid has also produced some incredible records, including those of 2022, when Rahm was crowned champion after the lowest winning score in the history of the tournament: 259 shots (-25), an all-time record for the Open de España.
His last appearance in the Spanish capital was also a memorable one. In 2024’s event he was on the verge of claiming another win but Malaga native Angel Hidalgo pipped him to the post in a sensational playoff.
With an incredible haul of trophies, notched up at lightning pace, including the 2021 US Open and the 2023 US Masters, as well as some winning Ryder Cup appearances, Jon Rahm has always stood out for his charisma and determination, both on and off the golf course. Wherever he goes, entertainment is guaranteed.
Historically, the presence of Jon Rahm has proved a huge draw for the fans, who will once again be able to enjoy watching the Basque golfer at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, which has welcomed huge numbers of fans in recent years.
