Jon Rahm, the Open de España presented by Madrid, and pure entertainment will come together once again at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from 8 to 11 October, when this year’s edition of one of the DP World Tour’s most historic tournaments will be played.
The presence of Spanish golf’s standard bearer in the field will create huge amounts of expectation as Rahm once again proves his loyalty and commitment to Spain’s biggest professional golf tournament.
Jon Rahm’s eighth appearance brings with it an opportunity to make history at the event. The three-time Open de España champion (2018, 2019 and 2022) has his sights set on surpassing Spanish great Seve Ballesteros, who also claimed a trio of titles from his home Open, and beyond that, the five titles Angel de la Torre claimed between 1916 and 1925, when the game of golf was radically different to the one we know today.
Apart from the titles, Jon Rahm enjoys a close relationship with the Open de España presented by Madrid, where he is capable of producing record-breaking performances, much to the delight of the home fans. For example, when the Basque player claimed the crown in 2022, he did so with the lowest score in the history of the tournament; 259 shots (-25), giving him the all-time record for the Open de España.
His unforgettable playoff in 2024 with Malaga native Angel Hidalgo also features among the event’s highlights, and it will live on long in the memories of the fans who were lucky enough to have made the trip to Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, which has welcomed huge numbers of spectators to the course in recent editions of the competition.
Proof of Jon Rahm’s quality and renown as one of the world’s best players comes in the form of an almighty resumé. The 2021 US Open, the 2023 US Masters, 3 Ryder Cup victories, dozens of trophies on both the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, along with five titles in LIV Golf, where he has plied his trade since 2024, including two this season in Hong Kong and Mexico. Quite simply, the charismatic Spaniard is guaranteed to entertain the masses both on and off the course.
