Sergio García’s third round was identical to two that preceded it; the Spaniard carded another 2 under par 69 that leaves him too far from the leaders with just one round left to play.
Once again, he seems to be playing much better than his scores would suggest, and the player from Castellon felt like he had let too many chances slip by on the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid greens, especially on the back nine, where he says he never feels quite as comfortable as he does on the front.
It looked like it could have been a great day for García at the Open de España when he reached the 17th tee and found himself among the top 10 on -4, but two late bogeys on 17 and 18 made for a bitter end to his third round.
